BibleScooter allows you to easily navigate the Bible and display pages from biblegateway.com when you are online. BibleScooter also allows you to mark favorite chapters and keep track of your reading progress in various books of the Bible, to help you achieve your personal reading goals.

BibleScooter displays a 2-wheel picker with the books of the Bible on the left and the chapters of each book on the right. You can choose to display the Old Testament, New Testament, or both testaments in the pickers.

As you move the pickers, the selected chapter of the selected book is automatically displayed from biblegateway.com (or other configured website) when you are online; Tap the picker button to hide the pickers for easier reading or reveal the pickers for navigation purposes.

BibleScooter can be configured to display text from any website that supports free-form book and chapter queries using the HTML “get” method, and can be configured to display text in your favorite translation if the website supports a query request for it (such as by appending “&version=X” to the biblegateway.com query URL).

You can click the “Favorite” button to mark (or unmark) both the book and chapter on the picker wheels with a heart, to indicate a favorite chapter of a book.

When you finish reading a chapter, you can click the “Read” button to mark it with a check mark on the chapter picker wheel; when you finish reading all chapters of a book, the book is also marked with a check mark on the book picker wheel.

If you find a chapter you want to share with a friend, you can click the “Mail” button to switch to the mail application to send a link to the website page.

We hope you enjoy BibleScooter.

Image 2: BibleScooter displaying John 3 again, but after tapping the picker button to hide the pickers for easier reading.

Image 3: BibleScooter configuration flip view; note that both Old and New Testaments are being displayed in the pickers, and if you read 3.3 chapters per day, you’ll finish them both in a year.

Just About Perfect
This app is just about perfect. I was looking for an affordable bible app for my iPhone. I wanted a simple to use, easy UI with multiple translations. This fits the bill perfectly. At 99 cents, you just can beat it - -Very easy to navigate (GREAT UI..!) -Switch between tanslations on the fly (tons of translations to choose from) -Easily keep track of what youve read -Mark fav chapters -Email links to chapters A couple of things that would make this "perfect" (instead of just about perfect) would be - -The ability to highlight text and save a specific verse as a fav as opposed to an entire chapter -The ability to email selected text (not just links to entire chapter - although you can certainly copy and past text into an email) -Search function (search by topic, key word(s)/phrase, etc.) Overall, I am VERY happy with this app. For me, it hits a Sweet Spot - Cost v. Functionality v. UI v. etc. I recommend this app.
Good start but need serious work
I am just starting to write an app. So far, your idea is fanstatic but the functionality is horrible. You are trying to bring web and app together but it too much like the web. When I choose my chapter to read I should be able get in the word with no distracting buttons and hyperlinks built in the page. Your website you use is great but the main thing that needs to change is the view. I suggest gleaning off the iPhone sdk book for dummies to show you to get your app to flow. Utilize transparent subview buttons and if you could translate your books to mobi pocket or PDF when accessed. I know it will be hard word but if you can harass bible gateway power in a app that flowed more like library then your app would be great. Good start thou.
Refreshingly simple
Refreshingly simple, but requires Internet access to view pages.
Good with some room for approval
It would be good if the app remembered the last translation that was used, so that you dont have to select it all over every time you start the app.
neat
i like the simple interface; i had to change "Query Scroll" value to 600 in the "i" options page (I am still running iOS 3 :-); while i was at it, i found i could also change the default translation in the "Query URL" so i didnt have to select it after every page. thanks.
